The traditional Pātimokkha recitation of the Mahā-Saṅgha is a very precious and solemn occasion in which monks undertake confession and purification according to a formal legal procedure. As such, it is conducted in private, without the presence of the laity.
The recitation will take place between 9:00 am and 10:30 am, during which time the monastery will be closed to the public.
Following this, there will be a small-scale alms-giving offered to two monks. Those who wish to offer dāna to the Mahā-Saṅgha are most welcome to come to the monastery after 10:40 am. We will begin the Buddha-vandanā at 11:00 am, followed by a short Dhamma talk and discussion on “Discipline for Spiritual Growth”, and a session of mindfulness meditation, with a mindful tea reception afterwards.
